Jackson makes some resolutions

Jackson is now 10 weeks old (his parents, on the other hand are each over 1500 weeks old, by way of reference).
In other words, he's pretty young. But he's, in the words of those who know, "wicked alert." He's been making all sorts of noises: coos and cahs, goos and gas. He smiles all the time, grabs at hoops, is obsessed with his primary color planes and a little dinky bunny that we wouldn't even think to give a name except that Jackson hangs out with him all day. And so, seeing as how he's way ahead of his time and that he's been born into a family of ambition, on Dec 31st (at noon, when we celebrated the New Year), Jackson decided to make a few resolutions.
Here they are.

1. I, Jackson, hereby resolve to wear my robe around the house until at least noon on every day except Sunday, during which I will not take my robe off (disrobe, as it were):

2. If they put me in jeans, and act like I'm three, I resolve to go right to bed and curl up like the little man I am.

3. When mom is around, Dad and I will act like we don't just dislike football, but we really hardly know what a football is. Why isn't it round? Is it edible? Why does it make grown men cry?

4. That said, when mom is out, take resolution number 2 and bury it with the resolutions from '06. When it's just me and dad, I live and die for football. I was born on a Monday night, but that was and will be the only Monday night game I miss.

5. I also plan on reading a bunch this year. There's been a lot of talk of late about some guy named Durkheim. I don't think I like that guy, but I might wait until '08 to really decide. But witha name like Emile it's going to take a lot.

6.I think 2007 will be a year of self-reliance for me. Well, let's see, I still will need mom to feed me. And I'm still going to need my diapers changed, my clothes put on and taken off. I still can't sign my name or even speak my name. I can't yet rent a car. And I certainly don't know how to make change. Hell, I can't really do anything on my own. But one of these days, I'm going to crawl. So maybe self-reliance can wait a year or two. Let's call '07 the year of mobility. And once I get going, I'm not stopping for anybody.

Great resolutions! Glad to see losing a pound or two is not among them. However, growing some hair might be one to consider, along with seeing the Golden Gate Bridge in every season.
