Jackson's Holiday

For the holidays, Sarah's been feeding Jackson straight egg nog. It's had a noticable effect:

He's been all grins, giggles, and so loopy that he can sit in his chair and just stare at a string of hoops for hours.

Well, is it really any wonder that the son of Sarah is a tad loopy?

Truth be told, he hasn't had any egg nog. Nobody likes egg nog. He's happy for a few simple reasons.
1: he's now over 2 feet tall (and that may allow him entry onto a few amusement park rides)
2: he's grown out of his size 1 diapers
3: he's tipping the scales at nearly 14 lbs
4: he turns 2 months old tomorrow
5: and most importantly, he got smothered by nearly his entire family (including his first meeting with his unlce/godfather Ben. Jackson loves Ben. And Ben loves Jackson.)
Here are the highlights from this, the holiday season.

One on One

[Sarah here] Jackson and I have been on our own this week because David is on tour. We've had a few adventures--the mall (which was very stimulating for Jackson at first, but I think by the end he decided he hates it), the Union Square Christmas market, sleeping over at Omelet and Grandpa’s, meeting some little tots at a new mothers group, and Jacob!...But, mostly we miss David.
Pictures are fewer without dad around, but there are some. Here are the best ones.

Jackson really meets Jacob

Up until Saturday evening, Jackson and his mom are in pretty good moods.

But as Sunday approaches, we think Jackson senses that the Giants are about to embarass themselves again and his dad is going to get grumpy. This makes Jackson a little, shall we say, unsettled.

The past few weeks he got fussy, expecting the worst. But he's changing now, growing more alert and wide-eyed and present, and with that, he's started to take more ownership of his life.

Today he stared at hanging snow flakes and a poster of a horn of plenty behind his dad's head. He also sat up against the armrest of our leather couch, held his head up on his own, and looked around. And then he got his hands in the throwing position and learned how to toss a spiral. He whispered that he thinks he might be able to help out this Sunday, that he might just be able to throw a more accurate pass than Eli Manning.

And he had the idea that maybe we could enlist his cousins Max and Sierra to be his receivers. He hasn't met them yet and is quite sad about it. But he's seen their pictures.

So we fed him well (he even tried to breast feed from his father) and taught him some of our favorite trick plays.

And then we introduced him to his cousin Jacob.

David tried to carry Jacob all the way to the Meadowlands. We thought he might be able to play left tackle.

But Jacob though he might set his sights a little higher.

When he comes back down, though, Jackson and the twins will be ready at least to play knee tackle football.
